KG Labs meets with SIPA Students, Columbian University

 Group of 20 SIPA students from USA, China, Peru, Japan, India, Canada, Singapoure and Kazakhstan are travelling to Kyrgyzstan in terms of the tours to Eurasian countries.

Meeting speakers were happy to meet with them and tell about the Taza Koom – National Digital Transformation Strategy, Kyrgyz startup and tech ecosystems and entrepreneurship.

It was fruitful and interesting meeting in order to share the experience, information and promote the Kyrgyzstan among you specialists in the shpere of International and Public Affairs.

On 23th May, 2018  KG Labs founder – Aziz Soltobaev and Chair of the Internet Society (ISOC) – Kyrgyz Chapter – Talant Sultanov met with the Mercator Fellowship programm participants.

As Aziz and Talant are co-authors of National Digital Transformation Strategy – Taza Koom, they gave speech and made presentation about the strategy, tech community and KG Labs Public Foundations activities and current initiatives.

Trip to World Economic Forum 2018

KG Labs founder – Aziz Soltobaev as a part of the Kyrgyz Delegation headed by the Prime Minister Sapar Isakov visited World Economic Forum in Davos in January, 2018.

One of the unofficial outcomes of the trip was the formation of a good partnership with the WEF team. We agreed to work with the center of the 4th Industrial Revolution to develop national policies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the development of cybersecurity mechanisms with the help of AI, as well as certain joint initiatives for the development of the digital economy and society, the deployment of the KR in WEF transformation maps: https://toplink.weforum.org/knowledge/explore.

Forum gave opportunity to meet several key people in the area of technologies in tourism, computer science and others.

One of the them was president of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation – Christopher Elias. We agreed to realize projects in order to develop computer education in all libraries of Kyrgyz Republic.

Also, Aziz met Gillian Tans ( President and CEO of Booking.com) and Tiffany Mizrahi ( Head of the group reporting on tourism competitiveness) and agreed  on cooperation for development of tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan.

Plans of opening logistics UPS hub in Kyrgyz Republic were discussed with the president of UPS International – Jim Barber.

During the meeting with Lynn St. Amour who worked as a Head of UN internet Governance Forum – Multistakeholder Advisory Group ( IGF-MAG) and the head of Internet Society, we agreed to work on development of the best world practices of Internet Access and development of the digital skills in educational institutions.

Aziz Soltobaev and Talant Sultanov also met with Kai Fu Lee – scientist and venture capitalist, head of the Sinovation Ventures. This fund with 3 billion dollars of investments is aimed to invest in startups in the area of AI. He promised to visit Kyrgyzstan and assist Kyrgyzstan’s universities to develop AI programmes.

Hackathon “Safe City and Safe Society”, Bishkek, October, 2017

Workshop Pitching with Edil Ajibaev

Pitching is one of the most necessary and at the same time one of the most underrated skills for a successful business presentation. KG Labs is pleased to invite you to the Workshop Pitching with Edil Ajibaev, which will be held as part of the Travel & Tourism hackaton.

As a result of this workshop, we expect that participants will be able to improve their presentation skills, which they will be able to apply on April 22 at the Pitching Day, at which participants will present their ideas. On Pitching Day will be presented the strongest presentations. As a result of the presentations, the judges will determine the winners who will receive prizes.

The speaker is Edil Azhibaev. He is an example of a successful entrepreneur from Kyrgyzstan. Edil founded his successful start-up PicVPic in Central Asia and continues to manage a company based in Bishkek.

Edil is the winner of the following competitions:
The best pitch award in the Silicone Valley Open Doors conference in Palo Alto;
Winner of seed stars world Kiev;
Winner of Technation Kazakhstan;
Winner of Echelon27 regional central asian finals Kazakhstan, where he presented his online website for comparative shopping and e-commerce. Ajibaev holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the American University of Central Asia (Bard College), an MBA from Indiana University in Bloomington. Before starting his startup, Edil worked for M & A and Strategy Manager at Li & Fung Limited (an office in the UK), a consultant in the Central Asian office of EBRD.

Travel&Tourism Hackathon

What does Kyrgyzstan need to attract tourists from all over the world and stand out on the world map? How should you position yourself so that lovers of tourism, sports, adventure and travel know about the beautiful nature and magical hospitality of our country?

Contrary to the generally accepted opinion that the main thing is to build luxury roads and a large number of five-star hotels, Kyrgyzstan needs innovative technologies, availability of detailed information about the country on the Internet and convenient resources to give all opportunities for tourists to discover a genuine Kyrgyzstan, to ensure safety and adventure!

This is exactly what the participants of Travel & Tourism Hackathon, which will take place on December 2-4 at the American University of Central Asia, will be engaged.

Hackaton is an event where participants join teams in order to develop innovative products (start-ups, mobile applications, websites, etc.). Usually, the team consists of professionals in various areas: project manager, programmers, designer, marketer, expert in tourism and travel.

The goal of each team in 54 hours to develop a ready working prototype of the product (site, application, etc.) and present it to the jury members who will choose the winner!

Valuable prizes and excellent opportunities to continue work on the start-up are provided!

Ideation Session #1 announcement

As part of the Travel & Tourism hackaton, KG Labs Public Foundation conducts a series of seminars for potential hackathon participants, where they can learn about current problems and challenges of the tourism industry, bottlenecks that need attention. As a result of these seminars, we expect that participants will be able to generate potential ideas / projects that they could implement on the hakaton.

In this connection, KG Labs Public Foundation is pleased to invite you to the first of four Ideation Session seminars where you can get a complete picture of the current situation in travel and tourism in Kyrgyzstan, get acquainted personally with experts and experts in these fields with whom you can discuss current problems tourist business.

The program includes speeches by well-known specialists of the tourism sector in Kyrgyzstan. The following speakers will share their experience in travel and tourism in Kyrgyzstan, will tell you how to become a professional in this field and answer your questions:

Marat Danilov, executive director of the NGO “Union of Pedestrian Tourism of Kyrgyzstan” will talk about problems, lack of appropriate advertising to attract tourists and the development of domestic tourism. And the speaker will share his impressions of the most interesting trips and trips of the Union.

Nurbek Saparov, executive director of the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO), about the importance of bills on visa-free travel for attracting more tourists and, in general, the role of the state in creating infrastructure in the tourism industry.

Razhiev Asylbek, Executive Director of the Kyrgyz Community Based Tourism Association, will talk about the peculiarities and potential of the tourism sector of our country, the role of families involved in ecotourism and how this practice in turn allows income for the inhabitants of the countryside and mountain areas and also the preservation of local culture and ecology.

Aziz Soltobaev, the head of the KG Labs Public Foundation, an expert in the field of technology projects and moderator of this meeting to share his knowledge about the existing in Kyrgyzstan technological projects in the field of travel and tourism in Kyrgyzstan.
