Research on national AI strategies in Central Asia

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, many countries have developed national strategies to harness the potential of AI for their own purposes. With the spread of generative AI models such as ChatGPT, supranational bodies and alliances of countries have adopted additional legislative measures for the responsible use of technology. Some countries, including those in Central Asia, are still in the process of formulating national policies.
I am pleased to announce that over the next five months, I will be conducting a comprehensive review of Kyrgyzstan’s national AI policy. Using the framework of the Global Responsible AI Index, I aim to provide insight into the current state of AI regulation and offer practical recommendations to policymakers.
In the past, I had the opportunity to contribute to an update of Kazakhstan’s national AI policy review using the framework developed by the Center for AI and Digital Policy. I look forward to collaborating and would greatly appreciate your support as we work together to advance Responsible AI in Central Asia.
