AI Safety Fundamentals

I’m proud to have recently completed the AI Safety Fundamentals: Governance course, a 12-week program by BlueDot Impact focused on the critical intersection of AI and policy. This experience deepened my understanding of how we can responsibly shape the development and deployment of advanced AI systems, particularly in ways that align with broader societal goals.

Throughout the course, I explored a range of topics—from the governance challenges posed by frontier AI models to the mechanisms for international cooperation and risk mitigation. What especially resonated with me was the opportunity to situate my own research interests within this broader context.

My focus during the program was on the role of AI in digital public infrastructure, particularly through the lens of AI as a digital public good. I looked at how open, transparent, and equitable AI systems can be designed to serve public needs—whether in healthcare, education, transportation, or civic engagement.
